Hatha Yoga
The word Hatha comes from combining the two Sanskrit terms 'ha' meaning sun and 'tha'
meaning moon. Hatha yoga balances the mind and body through physical postures (asanas), controlled breathing(pranayama) and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation.It is the basis for all other styles of physical yoga, with a traditional approach to yoga asanas and breathing techniques. Hatha class focuses on alignment, sun salutations and long deep stretching.
Hatha 1
A standard, all levels class. Excellent conditioning for the body,breath and mind. Ideal for
beginners!
Hatha 2
Intermediate level class. Building on the basic postures introduced in Hatha 1. Excellent
conditioning for the body, breath and mind.
Sivananda
Sivananda yoga, founded on the teachings of Swami Sivananda, is a non-proprietary form of Hatha yoga in which the training focuses on preserving the health and wellness of the practitioner. With regular practice, Sivananda yoga retains the vitality of the body, retards
the decaying process and decreases the chance of disease by simply and naturally cultivating the body. It creates optimal health, greater concentration and enhanced awareness.
Sivananda 1
This class covers proper breathing, sun salutations (surya namaskara),the first part of the 12 basic postures, and proper relaxation. Ideal for beginners!
Sivananda 2
An intermediate level class with variations of the basic Sivananda Yoga flow including deeper postures, balancing and inverted poses. Students will also gain deeper understanding of the Sivananda Yoga techniques, in particular proper breathing, proper relaxation and positive thinking.
Power Yoga
A powerful class focusing on movement with breath, using deep breathing techniques and linking postures together to create dynamic sequences. This class provides the student with an energizing and detoxifying practice.
Power 1
A beginner level sequence of power yoga postures. Energizing, powerful and fun! Ideal for beginners.
Power 2
An intermediate level sequence of power yoga postures. This class introduces deeper postures, balancing, and inverted poses.
Ashtanga Vinyasa
Ashtanga Vinyasa is the system of Yoga taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India. This method of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of posturesin a flowing Vinyasa style—a process producing intense internal heatand a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
Ashtanga Vinyasa 1
The classical form of power yoga as taught in its traditional sequence. Combines power and flexibility with movement, bandhas and breath to produce an energetic and detoxifying practice. Shortened Primary and Finishing sequences. Suitable for beginners.
Ashtanga Vinyasa 2
The classical form of power yoga as taught in its traditional sequence. Combines power and flexibility with movement, bandhas and breath to produce an energetic and detoxifying practice. Shortened Primary and Finishing sequences. Suitable for intermediate students.
Yin Yoga
Suitable for students of all levels. Yin yoga complements the practice of other yoga styles as it improves the flexibility of our joints and helps lengthen the body's deep connective tissues (the tendons and ligaments). Yin postures help explore the body's subtle energies and the long, deep stretching cultivates a peaceful and meditative mind.
Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapy cultivates body/mind integration and a sense of harmony with life. It promotes the innate healing resources of the body,helping restore the proper functioning of the various bodily systems. Retaining the ancient principles of yoga, yoga therapy works holistically at all levels of the mind and body.
Most beneficial to anyone with any form of injury or health problem such as stress,
tension, anxiety, high blood pressure, low bloodpressure, hypertension, diabetes, gas
trouble, constipation,arthritis, injuries due to sports and accidents etc. For individuals
who are already healthy and fit, yoga therapy will enable you to improve the performance
of the various parts of the body inclusive of the internal organs.
Pranayama / Meditation
Suitable for students of all levels who are interested in more fully integrating their yogic transformation. Pranayama breathing techniques teaches breath control and helps to calm the mind, reduce respiratory problems and improve lung capacity. Through proper breath control, students can maximise the benefits of their asana practice as it helps to focus the mind as well as increasing internal heat and energy.
Yoga for 40+
A gentle yet energising class. Combines slow stretches, breathing techniques and simple asanas. Suitable for beginners, especially for the over 40s who prefer a slower, gentler class.
Kids Yoga
Yoga is a discipline that can lead kids on the path toward a calm and balanced mind, as well as help them build a strong and flexible body - tools they can use in their everyday lives. Kids yoga classes combine gentle movements and modified relaxing stretches, easy postures, breathing techniques and concentration exercises.
Yoga for Men
A powerful class focusing on movement with breath, using deep breathing techniques and linking postures together to create vigorous, dynamic sequences. This class provides our male students with a demanding, energizing and detoxifying practice. Be prepared to sweat it out!
